The good news just keeps on coming. Former Alabama defensive back Earl Little Jr. has elected to transfer to Florida State. This is another example of why finishing second in a recruitment is becoming increasingly important. Little was one of the biggest reasons Randy Shannon found his way on the FSU coaching staff. His long time relationship with Little and his father helped keep FSU in this recruitment down to the very end. At the time, he understandably chose Alabama. Two years later, our program is in a much different place and he has decided to #Climb with Coach Norvell.
Little Jr. is a perfect candidate to take over the nickel/star role that Jarrian Jones played to near perfection last season. In conducting his scouting report on Little, Andrew Ivins likened him to a taller Tyrann Mathieu. Since the Florida State defense has played a lot of man coverage in recent years, Little is exactly the type of player we are looking for. He is fluid in the hips, and has elite change of direction. He has good ball skills and fights for the ball in the air.
What makes this commitment special is that he reunites with his high school coach Patrick Surtain, and his best friend Marvin Jones Jr. I am confident this will be another feather in the cap for Coach Surtain.
