FSU Football: 2023 Attrition Tracker update 12/7/2022 4:35 PM ET
Edge player George Wilson is the latest Nole to hit the portal and our Attrition Tracker has been updated to reflect his entry. Updates coming througout the week
Latest to enter:
I had a feeling this one was coming infortunately as we creep towards ten “exit interview” transfers. Really only one maybe two are sour grapes.
Florida State University is heading into year four of the Mike Norvell era in 2023. He arrived at the end of 2019 and the college football landscape has changed dramatically since he arrived three years ago. His toughest and most improtant challenge at the moment? That would be recruiting his own roster. Yes that’s right his OWN roster.
First came the graduate transfer, then we got the portal. We got a rule allowing students exemption from transfer penalties if the coach that got them to campus were to leave or be fired. Another rule in place allows one penalty free transfer per student athlete.
Along with all these changes before the season the NCAA announced a freeze on entering the transfer portal for all non-graduates. This opening date for Non-FBS schools has already passed. Monday, December the fifth the transfer portal will officially be open for Division one FBS scholarship athletes. This is when the madness will truly begin.
The contact period between coaches and HS recruits was in fact today, December the second and the early signing period runs from December 21st through the 31st. We can expect some kids to end all the drama and sign right then and there like Lamont “Boots” Green Jr. plans to according to pops.
Now that you know all that let’s try to keep track of + identify what scholarships the Noles will have to replace outside of graduation, or eligibility exhaustion. You could technically count Fabien Lovett in this group, but we all pretty much knew despite the free covid year, this would be his Senior year. He walked on Senior day at Doak Campbell stadium. Tatum Bethune also walked but I will be keeping a close eye on him. I believe given his transfer status and unclear draft grades his walking was to ensure he doesn’t miss out on that oppurtunity more than anything else.
So far there has only been one big name to announce his intentions to transfer come monday. That would be the highest ranked member of Norvells 2022 recruiting class in five-star Sam McCall.
Matt Zenitz is unbelievable with his portal reporting and is alwaus first it seems i will update some players with their personal tweets they want the world to see.
Stay completely up to date right here as
our attrition tracker will be updated as soon as information comes forward.
Some guys we fully expect to declare early like Jared Verse still wont be added to the attrition tracker until they officially declare!
