FSU football: Deamontae Diggs Transfers to FSU!
Former Coastal Carolina Edge elects to spend final year of eligibility with the Seminoles.
This offseason, Florida State has made the trenches a serious priority. The trend continued today as former Coastal Carolina EDGE Deamontae Diggs has elected to transfer to Florida State. He has one year left to play, and will look to make it count.
Diggs arrives at Florida State after a solid year at Coastal Carolina in which he made 34 tackles, 6.5 of them for a miss. Diggs also recorded 5 sacks for the Chanticleers. He was able to record those statistics despite playing most of the season with a broken hand per Brendan Sonnone of Noles247. Diggs spent the first four years of his collegiate career at Youngstown State. He recorded six sacks during the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
The 6’5 250 pound Diggs should be a quality rotational piece for the Seminoles. He has the perfect frame and requisite length to be an EDGE player in Tony White’s defense. Diggs has shown the ability to stop with a run with PFF grades of 60 or better in run defense. Diggs also has shown enormous potential as a pass rusher.
In fact, he earned an 88 grade from PFF for pass rushing during the 2023 season. Diggs also recorded 18 quarterback pressures during his lone season at Coastal Carolina, including 8 against Georgia State.
The key for Coach Knighton will be to unlock more consistency from Diggs in order for him to obtain a starting role. At worst, this a quality rotational piece for Florida State and you can never have enough defensive lineman.
Kudos to the coaching staff for shutting down this recruitment early. Go Noles!
