FSU Football: Tribe24 Spotlight | 1 on 1 With Keishawn Mashburn | 3☆ Defensive Lineman
I spoke with Keishawn Mashburn a name to watch as I expect him to rocket up recruiting boards, and once again prove Mike Norvell's evaluation of talent, ability and character are simply elite.
The Basic Recruiting Info
Keishawn Mashburn | 3☆ DT | 6’ 2” | 280 lb | Defensive Lineman | Robert F. Munroe Day-School in Quincy, Florida | Committed: July 23rd 2022 | Hudl Profile | Twitter | @keishawn59

Mike Norvell and staff offered a local defensive lineman with no stars almost a year ago now. The Class of 2024 defensive lineman commited to Florida State six months later live on Instagram following at least three trips to visit his hometown Seminoles.
Odell Haggins sees a star in the making
Odell Haggins is a mainstay at Florida State and has spent the better part of thirty years working directly with the program as a player, graduate assistant and eventually the defensive tackle & associate head coach.
In his three decades as an FSU assistant he has helped the Noles post a 72% winning pernectage. Add to that thirteen conference championships, two National Titles, and at least twenty interior lineman drafted, not to mention all the ends and linebackers he has coached up as well. You can ask Andre Wadsworth, Corey Simon, Timmy Jernigan, and Broderick Bunkely will all tell you that Odell is on their Mount Rushmore of role models and mentors in their lives.
Odell saw something in the subject of today’s Tribe24 Commit Spotlight. He saw enough to offer Mashburn following his sophomore year months before the recruiting services had even began to rank the 2024 defensive lineman. Of course Odell was right and less than a year later he is a Florida State commit and rated the #99th player in the state of Florida and the #53 Defensive Tackle in the entire nation.
High-School Career
For context there are 585 high schools in the State of Florida that field a FHSAA tackle football roster and over a million players nation wide. He was finally given his ranking on August 10th, eight months after being offered by FSU and a full month after his commitment. This was was also prior to his junior season in which he showed great development and focusing into his role as a defensive tackle.
Junior Statistics
(Combined Freshman & Soph. Total)
11 TFL (4)
7 sacks (8)
63 solo tackles (50)

One on One With FSU DT Commit Keishawn Mashburn
Renegade Report | It's been a pleasure getting to learn about your highschool career, how your production exploded in your Junior year, getting offered and eventually committing to Coach Odell, Norvell and the Seminoles. My first question has to be what was it like when you first got that offer? Was it Coach Odell?
Keishawn Mashburn | It was a crazy experience, when I walked in the room I didn't know what to expect. My coaches surprised me and didn't want to tell me what coach. Then I walked in the room and saw him and just started smiling. It was Coach Norvell and he offered me a scholarship right then!
Renegade Report | Wow! That had to be pretty cool to have the head coach of FSU validate your play like that. I guess that was almost a year ago now and you have since comitted and had an amazing junior year on the field, as well as began flying up the recruiting rankings. Im sure you would have had an amazing year regardless but what did it mean for you to pick up such a giant offer before the "recruiting experts" had even assigned you a star rating?
Keishawn Mashburn | It was an amazing feeling, I always dreamed of getting that giant offer . Getting stars to me, that really doesn't mean nothing. I didn’t care about how many stars recruits have and I couldn't let that stop my game and kept getting better.
Renegade Report | That's an awesome mindset to have and the results on the field speaks for themselves. Coach Norvell really seems to recruit a particular type of player and builds a family as much as a recruiting class. When I spoke to Tribe23 Longsnapper Peyton Naylor he said that you guys got to speak for about 30 minutes after your matchup with Maclay.
Are there any Class of 2024 guys you're recruiting to join the class or matchups your looking forward to senior year?
Keishawn Mashburn | Yes Payton and I are great friends. We talked after our regular season game and after the first round of playoffs we talked again. Yes I'm trying get some of my teammates at my high school if they can get offered plus my cousin Jason Patterson to join.
Renegade Report | That was pretty awesome for y'all to get to play twice. I didn't realize you and Jason were cousins. I was happy to see he made it out for Junior Day from Sneads and would love to see him in Garnet and Gold. You've got five big official visits in your pocket for your senior year and plenty of unofficials. Have you put much though to how you will use them? Do you have your next trip to Doak Campbell planned already?
Keishawn Mashburn | I don't have the official visits planned yet . I am gonna be on campus January 21st.
Renegade Report | I'm sure coach Storms and Odell will have some fun winter workout ideas for ya! I guess we can wrap up by just letting the folks know what you plan on bringing to FSU and the Dline in particular? and where we can follow and support your senior season!
Keishawn Mashburn | I will bring leadership to the room, and be disruptive in the passing and run games. You can follow my season on my Instagram @Showoff_king25 or my Twitter @keishawn59.
