FSU Football Whale Hunting | Top Ten #Tribe24 Recruiting Targets | Can The Noles Add To The #3 Class In The Nation?
As we count down to early signing day we take a look at #Tribe24 and what is next.
FSU Staff Hunting Whales!
The Noles currently have twenty two commits in #Tribe24 and they are far from being done. The question is who are they after and how many more will they add to an already loaded class. It is my belief that they add at least five more but it wouldn't surprise me to see a few more than expected. Twenty five is the NCAA limit but that number is more a recommendation than anything and can be worked around as we see guys sign classes of 27-30 kids routinely be it through grey-shirts or under recruiting previous classes etc.
This is where the whale hunting theme comes in. In previous years it has been a real tough row to hoe in HS recruiting for Norvell and Staff. Renegade Report readers knew all along that was just not going to be the case for #Tribe24. The play on the field was the only thing left holding Norvell and staff back and I can safely say it's no longer an issue. Norvell told all of these kids when they were freshman exactly what he was gonna do and he did it.
According to the 247 Composite the Noles have three five-stars, thirteen four-stars, and six three-stars committed for an average of 91.82 and currently sit in third place after UGA and Ohio State. The past three years we would hoping and praying the guys we had committed would stick on signing day right now. Hoping we might land a surprise or two at this point of the year. This year Norvell is gonna make a run at the top spot.
Top Targets On The Board
Jeremiah Smith - Ohio State Verbal
#1 Overall Recruit | #1 WR | Chaminade-Madonna Prep | Hollywood Florida
Jeremiah is an absolute freak athlete and one of the best receivers to come out of High School in recent memory. The #1 spot is rarely reserved for a WR highlighting just how special he is as a high school player. I have lost count of how many times he has been on campus. In his most recent he saw the Noles victory against the Gators at their place. I am 100% bought into the fact Jeremiah Smith ends up at FSU and I am putting my prediction in officially right now!
Koi Perish
6’1” & 195 lbs | #137 Overall | #11 Safety | Lincoln Secondary | Esko, MN
While he is listed at safety and one of the best in the entire nation I may add, I don't believe he will be a DB at FSU. Normal readers should notice something about his measurables. I have been quite strong in my criticism of Randy Shannon's recruiting methods as it sometimes seems he just looks for guys who are 6’1” 200 lbs over everything else in this case it appears that Perich is the absolute prototype to come in play the hybrid 4-2-5 linebacker needed for Fullers defense to thrive. I am officially putting in my Crystal Trophy for him as well.
D'Nas White
6’ 3.5” & 327 lbs | #682 Overall | #74 DL | Jay M Robinson | Concord, NC
The one criticism of this 2024 class thus far is defensive line recruiting with only a few underwhelming commitments to this point. D'Nas is being recruited by O'Dell and has several crystal balls to already and visit scheduled for December 8th. I don't know if he ends up coming FSU given the chaos across the country some other nams could possibly pass him on the board. We will see how the visit goes and if it pops a commitment.
LJ McCray - UF Verbal
6’6” & 260lbs | #55 Overall | #10 DL | Mainland HS | Daytona Beach Florida
I'm sure everyone knows about LJ McCray one of if not the best Defensive Tackles in the nation spurning the Noles and Dawgs for the sorry Gators. Around that time he had began liking and reposting all sorts of FSU stuff which in hindsight was obviously an awkward attempt at trolling the Noles. All of that makes me wonder if he ever even considered the Noles but this coaching staff has not given up and is still pushing. He did follow through and visited FSU for the Miami game as planned which is a good sign. We will just play this one day by day. We will keep you updated on the where FSU stands up until signing day.
Zavier Mincey
6’3” 180 lbs | #80 Overall | #6 Safety | Mainland HS | Daytona Beach Florida
The staff is still pursuing Mincey even though he has long thought to be a gator lean. I'm still not convinced he ends up in the class but UF firing Corey Raymond certainly changes things. We will have to see who Blly hires next and how that affects Mincey’s decision.
Cam Coleman
6’3” & 180 lbs | #7 Overall | #3 WR | Central HS | Phenix City, Alabama
Cam Coleman is another one of these absolute freak of nature athletes that was a longshot for the Noles up until just recently when Texas A&M decided to end the Jimbo era for a cool 76 million dollar buy out. Coleman took an unofficial to FSU on November 11th but then took back to unofficial back visits to Auburn. He witnessed the drubbing from New Mexico state and watched the heartbreaking loss to Bama. As much as I would love to see Coleman in Garnet and Gold it is extremely difficult to pull top players ,much less the #1 player in Alabama, out of that state. We saw just how tough it can be when Hugh Freeze flipped Keldrick Faulk with just days on the job last year.
Cai Bates
6’1.5” & 180lbs | #94 Overall | #9 CB | Edgewater HS | Orlando Florida
Of all the Targets I have listed here I would say this is the one I am the most confident in. Patrick Surtain has been an absolute menace on the trail putting together the nation's best DB class by a decent margin. Bates unofficially visited FSU for the Miami game and then decomitted from the LSU Tigers as soon as he got home. Seeing one of the best secondaries in the nation in action versus the absolute disaster in baton Rouge has not doubt helped get him onbiard and a committed could come any time.
Jason Zandamela - USC verbal
6’3” & 285 lbs | #109 overall | #4 IOL | Clearwater Academy International | Clearwater, FL
Again the OG Renegade Report readers know all about Zandamela as I have been covering him since day one. I'm pretty sure I predicted him to commit to FSU prior to his commitment to USC alongside Manasse Itete. Both were a major surprise to me at the time and to thus day I’m ot sure exactly what was said or done for USC to get them both in the fold so fast like they did. That said the Noles have already flipped Itete to the good guys and I wouldn't bet against Zandamela following suit.
There are more Targets out there folks these are just the ones top of mind at the moment so stay tuned and we will keep the articles coming in the days and weeks to come.
Artavious Jones - Miami Verbal
6’3” 280 lbs | #186 Overall | #25 DL | Blountstown HS | Blountsown, FL |
I have been keen to the idea of flipping Jones for a long time and at one point I thought it was imminent. Obviously nothing has come to pass just yet but he has been to campus to visit multiple times and I still believe the Noles have a great shot of flipping the panhandle baller to the good guys. His back to back unofficial visits to Tallahassee came October 14th and 21st and he hasn't visited elsewhere concentrating instead on his high school playoff run.
Joshisa Trader - Miami Verbal
6’1” & 175lbs | #38 Overall | #3 ATH | Chaminade-Madonna Prep | Hollywood, FL
We finish off the Top Ten Targets article with back to back Miami flip Targets while bookending it with Chaminade-Madonna Prep wide receivers. Miami recently offered their quarterback, Cedrick Bailey, a scholarship in what is a thinly veiled attempt to persuade Jeremiah Smith to join Trader in Coral Gables. In my opinion you have a better chance of both ending up at Florida State before that happens. Right now my money is on Jeremiah Smith but you never know. This Is a special year with a special recruiting class coming together with all the momentum in the world behind it. If Mike Norvell is gonna make a run at the number one class in the nation it will be with at least one of these two Chaminade-Madonna wide receivers.
In case you missed it…….
