FSU Transfer Portal News: Micah Pettus Commits to FSU!
Former Ole Miss offensive tackle Micah Pettus elects to spend his final year of collegiate eligibility at Florida State.
The Florida State faithful can calm their anxious nerves as Florida State has landed another offensive lineman. Ole Miss OT Micah Pettus has elected to transfer to Florida State for his final season of eligibility. What do Florida State fans need to know about Micah Pettus? When it comes to the measurables, Pettus looks the part of a future NFL offensive tackle.
The Harvest, Alabama product is 6’7 and checks in at 350 pounds. His size alone makes Pettus a future candidate for NFL Draft consideration. The greatest strength in Micah’s game is his run blocking. According to PFF, Pettus graded out at 74 for his run blocking this season at Ole Miss. When I watched film on Pettus, what impressed me most was his mobility given his size. Pettus flashed the ability to run plays like trap and counter which are staples in the Norvell and Malzahn offensive systems. I also love that he plays with a bit of a nasty streak in the run game.
Pettus’s pass blocking graded out lower than his run blocking but it was still a respectable 66.4. The film review showed weaknesses when it comes to technique. Fortunately for Florida State, they have one of the best offensive line coaches when it comes to teaching technique.
It is my sincere belief that Pettus will be the presumptive starter at right tackle. Florida State fans should give props to the offensive staff for landing his services. Players like Pettus get FSU one step closer to fixing the abysmal offensive line play from the previous season. Go Noles!
