Reasons to watch the Orange Bowl
Florida State fans should still watch the Orange Bowl regardless of how it plays out.
One of the biggest negatives that has come from the playoff system is that all games have become essentially meaningless. A Florida State-Georgia matchup should be a heavily hyped contest that should showcase a clash of the biggest titans in college football. Instead, it has been massively affected by opt outs from the Florida State side, and from transfer portal defections from both teams.
That said, there are plenty of reasons why FSU fans should watch the Orange Bowl. This Orange Bowl game is a great opportunity to see future talent, show the team our support, and it’s college football y’all. Anything can happen!
I know Florida State fans would love it if they could watch guys like Keon, Johnny, and Jared play one more game. That said, this game is the perfect time for our young players to show what they have. Can Hykeem Williams establish himself as WR1? Will Pat Payton level up to be the next great FSU edge player? How will Darrell Jackson play after his season was unjustly taken from him by the NCAA? These questions are just some of many that may be answered this game, and every Florida State fan should be looking forward to that.
There is no question that Florida State deserved better than an Orange Bowl consolation prize, but this is far from a meaningless game. The boys absolutely deserve our support after their efforts resulted in our best season in nearly ten years.
They played through injuries, sickness, and the pain of losing their leader and quarterback to a season-ending injury. We owe it to them to cheer them on and support them no matter the result.
Finally, this is college football above all else. How many times have upsets and wild endings happened? More than you can count. It is absolutely feasible for Florida State to come away with a victory that seems impossible on paper. That is why the sport of college football is so loved and revered.
I know the past couple of weeks have been rough for the Florida State faithful. I honestly wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to boycott the playoff or bowl season all together. My only request is that if you watch one game, make it ours. I know the coaching staff and the players will do everything in their power to win this game. Let’s do everything in our power as a fan base to help get them over the hump.
Great job Mark. This exhibition friendly is a great barometer into the future. I love seeing these young kids get a chance to shine.
It might be a great barometer of the new players - but it will be a long “Georgia is the best and has the best players & Carson Beck is the early Heisman leader & for FSU it will be - They sure didn’t need to be in the CFP & they sure are missing all those players that left the team and How did this team win 13 games!!!!!!!!! It just isn’t worth the aggravation………
