FSU Football: Recruiting Dead Period Begins | No more visits | Countdown to ESD with 5 Prospects to watch!
Starting at 12:01 AM Monday morning the only form of communication allowed between coaches and recruits will be electronic. Five big targets to watch.
Dead Period Officially Begins
About eight hours ago as soon as the clock struck 12:01 college football entered its Dead Period. According to the NCAA this the most restrictive period on the recruiting calender. This particular dead period will run all the way through the end of the Early Signing Period.
Another 12 days after the ESD period ends communication open’s back up on the 13th. The portal closes on the 18th leaving a five or six day mad scramble for unsigned portal kids to sneak in one more visit. A bit of PR came the Noles way monday evening when UTEP OL Jeremiah Byers committed via social media!
What this means for the Florida State coaching staff is zero physical contact with recruits. This contact includes but is not limited to on-campus visits by the recruit , the coach seeking the player at his high-school, a seven-on game, or even the dentist’s office. Zero verbal contact within the same physical proximity. Telephones, email and any other electronic communication is allowed.
Make sure to get caught up on Monday’s 12/19/2022 Cheez-It Bowl Practice and hear from Mike Norvell, Lawrance Toafili, and Johhny Wilson

Five targets to watch on ESD
Kamren Robinson | A Virginia four-star linebacker commit, and Tappahannock, Virginia native Kamren burst into the conversation on Florida State’s 2023 signing class. What started off as a bit of mutual interest changed when Robinson came to Tallahassee. By all accounts including his own the visit was a total success for Norvell and co. I dont believe anyone is in it at this moment but in this NIL era anything can happen and doe$.
Andy Jean - UF | This four-star, six foot one inch, and 180 pound man of a high-school senior was in Tallahassee visiting the Seminoles this past weekend including our coverage right here on the final official visitor weekend prior to the early signing period. Before now I would have said this was the least likely flip to happen. That’s no longer the case and I give UF around 65% shot signing him still. Would be a giant flip for perception in state
Christopher Otto- The three-star offensive line recruit appeared to be smitten with Florida State University Sunday during a short media scrum with Noles beat writers. He mentioned his appreciation for FSU’s film school and reputation being a major plus for his recruitment. He plans to announce Wednesday morning and he is all Nole in my opinion.
Conrad Hussy - The Four-Star St. Thomas Aquinas defensive back is currently committed to James Franklins’ Penn State Nittany Lions. We are officially predicting a flip here, and I fully expect the six foot, 190 pound, safety prospect to make the flip. He is the number 237 player in the nation and top fifty in the state of Florida. This is a giant focus of the recruiting staff moving forward. Florida kids need to be kept in state. As we enter the dead period I’m still happy with the Noles position but he could ultimately stick with Penn or even join Davonte Brown with Miami. Big one to watch Wednesday
Edwin Joseph | 3/4 * Chaminade-Madonna ATH | This has been one of the state of Florida recruitments where despite his three star rating, Edwin is a priority of several in-state staffs. The Noles appear to be trending in a positive direction with the Chaminade-Prep, Hollywood, FL. He tooknvisits elsewhere this weekend but I still believe the Noles hold the edge. We will report anynnew commitments right here.
